The Workshop Sheet 21 of 22
Describe a loose piece in your own words, with its size in studs if it has them, and pick yours from the pictures. It is free and needs no account.
We chose 36 pieces at random, common pieces as often as they turn up in sets, from the 63,251 parts in the catalog, and described each from its picture without reading its name or number first. Measured November 03, 2026. With this few pieces, take the counts as a rough guide.
| Search | Right piece first | In the top 5 | On the page |
|---|---|---|---|
| This page | 13 of 36 | 20 of 36 | 27 of 36 |
| Plain name search | 2 of 36 | 10 of 36 | 13 of 36 |
It reads the catalog’s name for each part, so a piece whose name uses other words than yours can be missed: a describer’s “ridges” is the catalog’s “notched”. It does not look at photos, and it does not know which printed design is on a piece. The tool itself saves nothing, but your description travels in the page’s address, which the site’s analytics note as they do for any page.
