📝 Our Take

Cole 891727-1 is a nostalgic blast from the past for classic Ninjago magazine collectors. Issued in 2017 during the Hands of Time era, this foil-packed impulse buy delivers a named ninja and a handful of gear without breaking the bank.

This set is perfect for completionist Ninjago collectors and budget-conscious minifigure hunters. With only 9 pieces total, it takes about two minutes to assemble, serving primarily as a neat vehicle to acquire Cole and his weapons.

Skip this if you are looking for a substantial building experience or modern set complexity. Since it's a retired magazine freebie, look toward current retail Ninjago mech or dragon polybags if you want more bricks for your buck.

Investment Grade

Retired

As a retired 2017 magazine foil pack, this set has limited investment trajectory compared to major retail waves, but it maintains a steady niche appeal. Because it includes a specific iteration of Cole with unique shoulder armor, completionists hunting down every historic Ninjago minifigure will occasionally drive demand. However, the tiny 9-piece count means it lacks the structural collectibility of standard boxed sets. Investors should view this as a low-risk, low-reward curiosity rather than a high-yield portfolio staple, though sealed magazine packs do hold a quaint charm for retro theme displays.

Sonny's Lift Mechanic / Sons of Garmadon Polybag

Similar to other LEGO Ninjago magazine foil packs from the era, this set prioritizes the included character and gear over traditional brick-building. It offers less utility than standard polybags which usually feature mini-builds or vehicles.
