📝 Our Take

Nabbit at Toad's Shop is a delightful and character-rich addition to the LEGO Super Mario lineup. Featuring two beloved brick-built characters in Yellow Toad and Nabbit, this modest 230-piece set brings the classic video game shopping experience right to your tabletop with charming accessories and a shopping trolley.

This set is perfect for younger fans, Super Mario enthusiasts, and completionists looking to expand their digital coin-collecting layouts. At just $19.99, it offers a quick, engaging build that introduces fun role-play elements and integrates seamlessly with interactive Mario, Luigi, or Peach figures.

Skip this if you are an adult collector seeking complex building techniques or large display models. Without an interactive Starter Course figure, the set's standalone play value is quite limited.

⏳ Retired

As a retired set from the Super Mario theme, Nabbit at Toad's Shop occupies an interesting niche for secondary market buyers. With an original MSRP of $19.99 for 230 pieces, it offered decent value out of the box, and character-driven sets featuring fan-favorite figures like Nabbit tend to retain interest among niche collectors. However, because the Super Mario theme relies heavily on electronic starter figures for full playability, standalone expansion sets can sometimes experience slower appreciation compared to traditional minifigure-based themes like Star Wars or Castle. Still, its low entry price and retirement status mean steady, modest growth is likely as sealed copies become harder to find for completionist Mario fans.

Compared to other $20 LEGO Super Mario expansion sets, 71429 stands out by focusing on a civilian shop environment rather than an action-heavy platforming challenge. While sets like standard enemy encounters prioritize obstacle design, Nabbit at Toad's Shop leans heavily into role-play and town-building aesthetics, making it a unique companion piece to larger Mario sets.
