Scaredy Rat

As a retired blind-bag style character pack from the Super Mario theme, Scaredy Rat (71402-5) occupies a niche collector space. With a tiny 28-piece count and an original MSRP of $4.99, it has already begun ticking upward in price, currently sitting around $9.00. While low entry prices make it accessible, investing in small blind-bag figures carries liquidity risks, as they appeal primarily to theme completionists rather than mainstream investors. Because the packaging is typically destroyed upon opening, finding sealed examples in pristine condition is increasingly difficult, which can drive up collector interest over time. However, shifting trends in the Super Mario theme and the discontinuation of these specific character packs mean growth will likely be steady rather than explosive. Prospective buyers should weigh storage costs and market demand carefully before accumulating bulk inventory.
