Fans praise the detailed design and unique forge mechanism but criticize the limited play area and relatively small size for the price. The Lurtz minifigure is a major draw, but some feel the set could have included more Orcs.

📝 Our Take

The Orc Forge is a surprisingly detailed and menacing little set. Despite its modest piece count, it perfectly captures the gritty and brutal atmosphere of Mordor, offering a great play experience and display piece for Lord of the Rings fans.

This set is perfect for Lord of the Rings enthusiasts of all ages, especially those looking to expand their Mordor army. The build is engaging without being overly complex, making it a fun project for both kids and adults. The inclusion of key characters like Lurtz makes it a desirable addition to any collection.

Skip this if you're only interested in large, complex builds or iconic locations from Middle-earth. Consider sets like the Battle of Helm's Deep (9474-1) for a grander building experience or Rivendell (10316-1) for an iconic location.

⚖ Compare Similar Sets

The Orc Forge is a smaller, more focused set compared to larger Lord of the Rings sets like the Battle of Helm's Deep (9474-1) or the Mines of Moria (9473-1). It offers a more affordable entry point into the theme and provides a detailed vignette of Orcish craftsmanship. While it lacks the scale of larger sets, it compensates with its unique forge mechanism and the inclusion of the Lurtz minifigure, making it a desirable set for collectors focused on minifigures or smaller, displayable scenes.

4 Minifigures Included

The inclusion of Lurtz, a key villain from the Fellowship of the Ring, makes this set highly desirable for minifigure collectors. The other Orc minifigures add to the army-building potential, making it a valuable set for Lord of the Rings enthusiasts.
