The Kakapo set presents a solid investment opportunity due to its status as a limited-release BrickLink Designer Program set. The unique subject matter, combined with a relatively low production run, makes it highly desirable among collectors. The rising price trend since retirement indicates strong demand, and the absence of similar sets further enhances its investment potential. However, fluctuations in the secondary market should be considered.

The Kakapo set stands out due to its focus on a specific, lesser-known bird species and its limited availability. While other LEGO bird sets exist, such as those in the LEGO Ideas theme, the Kakapo offers a unique building experience and a more realistic aesthetic. Its appeal lies in its exclusivity and the challenge of recreating the bird's distinctive features.

The Kakapo set is a great source of lime green elements, particularly the curved slopes and round tiles, which are ideal for creating organic shapes and textures in MOCs. The set also includes a decent quantity of dark tan tiles, useful for adding subtle details and earth tones to builds.
