📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

Mei's Dragon Jet is an absolute powerhouse of imaginative play for its modest price point. Combining sleek dragon-inspired aesthetics with clever functionality like fold-back wings and a detachable mini-flyer, this set punches well above its 246-piece weight class.

This set is perfect for younger Monkie Kid fans and builders looking for dynamic play features. The inclusion of three minifigures, including the Ink Demon and Ink General, provides instant battle scenarios right out of the box, and it even integrates directly with the 80040 mech for expanded play.

Skip this if you are strictly an adult collector seeking a massive display piece or complex building techniques. At 246 pieces, the build is straightforward and geared much more toward action-packed play than static shelf presence.

⏳ Retired

As a retired set from the vibrant and increasingly collectible LEGO Monkie Kid theme, Mei's Dragon Jet holds a solid position in the secondary market. The theme is known for lower production runs compared to Star Wars or City, making character-driven sets like this appealing to completionists. With three distinct minifigures—including desirable villains like the Ink Demon and Ink General—plus unique trans-bright green energy elements and pearl gold accents, the parts and figure selection give it good legs for future value appreciation. While small impulse-priced sets rarely skyrocket, its retirement status and niche theme popularity make it a steady, low-risk hold for Monkie Kid collectors.

Compared to other entry-level Monkie Kid sets, Mei's Dragon Jet stands out for its high play interactivity and sleek color blocking in dark turquoise and white. While mech sets usually dominate the theme, this jet offers a refreshing aerial combat dynamic that rivals similarly priced Ninjago flyer sets.
