📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

The HH-87 Starhopper is a deeply underrated gem from the Clone Wars era. Representing the sleek bounty hunter vessel from season 5, this 2013 release brought a wonderfully unique silhouette and color palette to the Star Wars lineup that stands out from standard Republic and Separatist grey ships.

This set is perfect for Clone Wars completists and fans of the bounty hunter story arcs. Offering a smooth building experience with a clever mix of dark tan, lime, and bluish-gray elements, it bridges playability and shelf-presence exceptionally well for a mid-sized system set.

Skip this if you are purely a movie purist or hunting for iconic main-character ships. Because it's a niche vessel from a specific animated arc, casual fans might prefer investing their display space in more recognizable vehicles.

Investment Grade

⏳ Retired

As a retired 2013 tie-in set from The Clone Wars animated series, the HH-87 Starhopper has quietly enjoyed a solid upward trajectory on the secondary market. Because it was only produced for a relatively short window and features characters that haven't seen frequent remakes, sealed and complete-in-box copies command a healthy premium well above their original $39.99 MSRP. The inclusion of Cad Bane in his specific look, alongside the rare Rako Hardeen disguise version of Obi-Wan Kenobi and a Nikto Guard, makes the minifigure lineup a massive draw for collectors. This heavy figure-driven demand protects its long-term investment grade nicely. While it doesn't carry the mainstream clout of an X-Wing or TIE Fighter, its status as a one-off vessel from a beloved era of Star Wars animation ensures steady, niche demand among completionists, making it a reliable mid-tier investment piece.

Compared to standard Imperial or Rebel starfighters of a similar price point, the Starhopper offers a much more exotic color scheme and unusual geometry. While sets like the Z-95 Headhunter (75004) offered standard Republic fare, the Starhopper targeted fans of the underworld and bounty hunter arcs, making it a unique companion piece to other Clone Wars sets like Cad Bane's Speeder.
