📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

The Lightning Jet is a sleek and surprisingly detailed Ninjago flyer. Capturing the essence of Jay's elemental power, the model features adjustable wings, spring-loaded shooters, and a cockpit ready for high-speed adventures, making it a standout vehicle from The LEGO Ninjago Movie lineup.

This set is perfect for Ninjago fans and those who appreciate unique LEGO aircraft. The build offers a satisfying experience with a good balance of Technic elements for structural integrity and System bricks for aesthetics. Its size makes it a great display piece that doesn't dominate shelf space, and the included minifigures add to the play value.

Skip this if you're looking for a more challenging build or a set with a lower price point. While enjoyable, the build isn't overly complex, and the current aftermarket price may deter some. Consider other Ninjago vehicles like Destiny's Wing for a smaller investment or the Ninjago City Docks for a larger, more intricate build.

Investment Grade

⏳ Retired

The Lightning Jet (70614) presents a moderate investment opportunity. Its initial retail price was quite reasonable for the piece count and included minifigures, but its retired status has led to a significant price increase on the secondary market. Ninjago, as a theme, has proven to be consistently popular, and well-maintained, sealed copies are likely to appreciate over time. However, the rising price makes it a riskier investment compared to when it was readily available at MSRP. Monitor market trends and condition closely before investing.

⚖ Compare Similar Sets

Compared to other Ninjago vehicles, the Lightning Jet offers a sleek and aerodynamic design. While sets like the Fire Mech (70615) provide a different building experience with a larger, more imposing model, the Lightning Jet stands out for its playability and swooshability. It's a good alternative to the Movie-era Destiny's Bounty (70618) if you prefer a vehicle over a larger structure, though the Bounty offers more minifigures.
