📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

Become My City Hero is a charmingly compact promotional set that packs a surprising amount of world-building into just 85 pieces. Released in 2018, this pocket-sized set was designed as an entry-level introduction to the LEGO City Police subtheme, complete with a small woodland hideout scene, a stash of loot, and an incredibly detailed forest ranger-style policeman.

This set is perfect for younger builders looking for a quick, high-play-value addition to their City layouts. With an assembly time of under 15 minutes, it offers immediate gratification and serves as an excellent pocket-money build or stocking stuffer.

Skip this if you are looking for a complex building experience or a substantial display piece. At only 85 pieces, adult fans of LEGO (AFOLs) will find the build over in a flash, making larger retired sets like the Forest Police Station a much better alternative.

Investment Grade

⏳ Retired

As a small promotional set from 2018, Become My City Hero has seen a modest rise in value from its original $5.99 MSRP to around $7.58. Because it is a retired set with a low entry price, it represents a very low-risk investment, though the raw profit margins in absolute dollar terms will remain small. The primary driver of value here is the exclusive or semi-exclusive elements, particularly the forest policeman minifigure with his detailed sand blue jacket and tan campaign hat. While City theme sets generally do not appreciate as rapidly as licensed IPs like Star Wars, small police sets with unique minifigures always maintain a steady baseline of demand from collectors looking to populate their custom city layouts.

⚖ Compare Similar Sets

Compared to other small LEGO City Police sets, such as the standard Police Starter Packs, 40302-1 stands out for its wilderness/forest setting rather than an urban environment. While those sets often include a small vehicle like a police motorcycle or ATV, this set focuses on a small scenery build (a hideout) and premium accessories like the gold ingot and printed money. Choose this set if you prefer forest police aesthetics and want a great minifigure; choose the standard starter packs if you want a vehicle.
