📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

Police Water Plane packs surprising detail into a micro-scale aircraft that makes a fantastic impulse buy. With just 48 pieces, it delivers a surprisingly complete little hydroplane that captures the classic LEGO City law enforcement aesthetic.

This set is perfect for younger builders and LEGO City fans looking to quickly expand their police forces. The quick, simple build takes only a few minutes, making it an ideal stocking stuffer or casual desk toy.

Skip this if you are an advanced builder looking for complex techniques or high part-counts. At $3.99, it's a fun novelty, but MOC builders will find better parts value in larger multi-pack sets.

⏳ Retired

As a retired polybag set with an original MSRP of just $3.99, Police Water Plane sits in an interesting niche for low-stakes collecting. Because it was widely distributed as a promotional or impulse item in retail checkout aisles, thousands remain sealed in circulation, keeping secondary market prices fairly modest. However, sealed polybags in the LEGO City theme do experience steady, slow appreciation from completionists and nostalgic fans looking to collect every vehicle from the 2018 sub-wave. While it won't fund a college tuition, it's a fun, low-cost piece of LEGO history that easily holds its baseline value.

⚖ Compare Similar Sets

Compared to larger boxed LEGO City police sets, this polybag offers an exceptionally affordable entry point into the theme without needing to commit shelf space or a larger budget. While it lacks the advanced play features of bigger sets like heavy-duty command planes, its charming size makes it a beloved classic among impulse-buy collectors.
