The Astro Dart presents a unique investment opportunity due to its age, rarity, and the enduring popularity of the LEGO Space theme, particularly the Futuron subtheme. As a small set with a low original MSRP, finding complete and mint condition versions is increasingly challenging, driving up prices on the secondary market. While the piece count is low, the set's historical significance and the collectibility of Futuron minifigures contribute to its potential for appreciation. However, potential investors should be aware of the higher entry cost and the importance of verifying the set's condition and completeness before purchasing.

The Astro Dart, while small, is a great entry point into the Futuron theme. Compared to larger sets like the 6952 Solar Power Transporter, it's more affordable and easier to acquire. However, those seeking a more complex building experience and more substantial display piece might prefer the larger sets. Its simplicity and affordability make it a good alternative to more modern, complex space-themed sets for those seeking a nostalgic experience.
