📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

Lightning McQueen & Mater's Car Wash Fun is an absolute joy for the youngest Disney and Pixar fans. Bringing Radiator Springs' finest to life in chunky, toddler-friendly DUPLO form, this vibrant set turns bath time or play room adventures into high-octane fun.

This set is perfect for toddlers ages 2 and up who are obsessed with the Cars franchise. With chunky pieces designed for little hands, it encourages fine motor skills and imaginative roleplay as kids scrub down their favorite characters.

Skip this if you are looking for complex system builds or have outgrown the DUPLO age bracket. Older builders and standard LEGO collectors will find this too simplistic, though it makes a great gift for younger siblings.

⏳ Retired

As a DUPLO set tied to the massively popular Disney Pixar Cars franchise, 10996 holds a unique spot in the secondary market. DUPLO sets generally have a niche collector base, but character-driven licenses like Cars tend to retain their value exceptionally well once retired because parents constantly seek out recognizable characters for toddlers. With a low initial MSRP of $29.99 and a modest 29 pieces, its entry price is accessible, meaning sealed copies could see steady, modest growth among nostalgic parents looking for specific Disney preschool toys. However, because DUPLO blocks are nearly indestructible and heavily played with, complete used sets in good condition will likely face heavy competition from loose lots. Investors should view this primarily as a wonderful playset for young children rather than a high-yield financial asset, though sealed boxes will certainly appeal to dedicated Disney Pixar Cars completionists over the long term.
