1. Best pop culture display: Time Machine from Back to the Future
Set 77256, 357 pieces, ages 9+, Speed Champions, released 2026. LEGO retail price $27.99 as of October 2026.
Time Machine from Back to the Future 77256 is an exceptional crossover build released in 2026 that translates a silver screen legend into a compact 357-piece model rated for ages 9 and up. It suits movie enthusiasts and desk collectors who value clever engineering, taking roughly 1.5 build hours to complete. The clever modular design lets you construct either the 1985 original or the 2015 flying variant featuring Mr. Fusion. You also receive angled cheese slopes that capture the wedge silhouette, trans-light blue curved elements, and two minifigures: Marty McFly with his puffer vest and Doc Brown.
Good to know: The Speed Champions scale constraints mean Time Machine from Back to the Future 77256 does not include opening gull-wing doors, serving strictly as a stationary display build rather than an interactive vehicle model.
2. Best double-vehicle project: Jaguar Project 7 & Land Rover Defender
Set 77264, 740 pieces, ages 10+, Speed Champions, released 2026. LEGO retail price $59.99 as of October 2026.
Jaguar Project 7 & Land Rover Defender 77264 delivers an extensive 740-piece building experience for builders ages 10 and up who want serious variety in a single box. Highlights include rounded plates on the Jaguar alongside authentic Land Rover utility details like a roof rack, ladder, and spare wheel. Two dedicated driver minifigures provide authentic display options for both British machines.
Good to know: If you only collect sleek modern hypercars, the chunky proportions and boxy profile of the Land Rover in Jaguar Project 7 & Land Rover Defender 77264 might feel out of place in your display lineup.
3. Best classic motorsport icon: BMW M3 (E30)

5. Best futuristic hypercar: Bugatti Vision GT Hyper Sports Car
Set 77253, 284 pieces, ages 9+, Speed Champions, released 2026. LEGO retail price $27.99 as of October 2026.

A sturdy internal chassis construction makes Lightning McQueen 77255 equally suited for shelf display or imaginative vehicle play.

Buying tips
Choose between single models and two-car packs
Single-car sets like Lightning McQueen 77255 feature 270 pieces and take about 2 build hours to complete. In contrast, double-vehicle sets like Jaguar Project 7 & Land Rover Defender 77264 feature 740 pieces and take 4.5 build hours, making them ideal when you want extended building time and instant side-by-side display variety.
Prepare for sticker application
Modern Speed Champions vehicles rely on decal sheets to recreate complex real-world liveries and sponsor emblems. Builds like Ken Block's '65 Ford Mustang Hoonicorn V1 77262 feature intricate exterior graphics. Take your time aligning each graphic using tweezers or the edge of a brick separator to ensure straight, clean bodywork.
