RemoteBrick – The First Java Library for the LEGO® SPIKE™ Prime / Robot Inventor Hub

A developer has created RemoteBrick, a brand-new open-source Java library designed to control the original LEGO® Education Inventor Hub (51515) and LEGO SPIKE Prime using factory firmware. This tool eliminates the need for custom flashing, Pybricks, or complex workarounds, allowing users to write pure Java programs that communicate directly with the hub via Bluetooth Classic (SPP).

Now available in version 1.3.0, RemoteBrick provides access to 100% of the features found in the official LEGO app. The current feature set fully supports motors with capabilities for speed, degrees, tank drive, ramping, and absolute positioning, alongside control of the 5x5 display for text, images, animations, single pixels, and rotation. Additionally, the library supports all hub sensors including color, distance, force, and gyro/tilt, as well as sound and tones, hub button monitoring, knock detection, battery level tracking, hub orientation, and real-time multi-hub broadcast messaging through a thread-safe API.

Getting started with the library requires downloading the latest JAR file from the GitHub repository, adding it to a preferred Java project environment like IntelliJ, Eclipse, or VS Code, and pairing the hub via Windows Bluetooth settings to obtain its MAC address. The library features both blocking and asynchronous commands for streamlined programming.
