🏆 FIRST LEGO League Official Platform

SPIKE Prime is the official competition platform for FIRST LEGO League Challenge (ages 9-16)

What is FLL?

Team-based competition where students build robots to complete missions on a game mat. Teams also present innovation projects to judges. Season runs September-February.

Why SPIKE Prime?

Approved for official FLL competitions. Robust design handles tournament wear-and-tear. Force sensor enables precise mission attachments. Python programming gives competitive edge.

🛠️ Classroom Implementation Tips

  • Start Simple: Begin with Scratch blocks, transition to Python in Unit 3. Students master concepts before syntax.
  • Pair Programming: 2 students per set works well. One "driver" codes, one "navigator" reviews. Rotate roles.
  • Storage System: Label bins by team. Use inventory checklists to track pieces. Designate "part managers" in groups.
  • Assessment: Use LEGO's rubrics for core values, innovation projects, and robot performance. Portfolio-based assessment works well.
  • Extensions: Advanced students can explore Pybricks, Web Bluetooth, or custom sensors for differentiation.
