📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

Early Structures is a fantastic educational set for young children. This Duplo set, released in 1997, provides a hands-on learning experience that encourages creativity and problem-solving through building simple structures and machines.

This set is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers who are just beginning to explore the world of building. The large Duplo bricks are easy for small hands to manipulate, and the bright colors and simple designs are visually stimulating. It's an excellent way to introduce basic engineering concepts and spatial reasoning skills.

Skip this if you're looking for complex building techniques or intricate designs. This set is geared towards very young children, so older builders or collectors seeking advanced models might prefer LEGO System sets or more elaborate Duplo offerings focused on specific themes, such as Duplo Town.

The Early Structures Duplo set, while not a typical investment piece, holds potential value for collectors of vintage LEGO educational sets. Its complete inventory and good condition can make it desirable to schools and parents seeking classic educational tools. Due to the nature of Duplo sets, the investment return is unlikely to be substantial, but it remains a niche collectible. The set's age and educational focus contribute to its appeal.

⚖ Compare Similar Sets

My First Building Blocks

Compared to modern Duplo sets, Early Structures offers a more basic and straightforward building experience. While newer sets may have more specialized elements and licensed characters, this set's simplicity can be an advantage for very young children who are just starting to build. Consider newer Duplo sets like My First Rocket 10815-1 for more complex builds, but this set provides a solid foundation in early construction.
