A nostalgic set that is appreciated for its unique soft bricks and safety features for toddlers, but some find the building possibilities too limited compared to traditional LEGO systems like DUPLO.

📝 Our Take

The Extra Soft Bricks set is a unique and charming offering from LEGO's past. Released in 1999 as part of the Soft Bricks line, this set provides a tactile building experience aimed at younger children, using soft, pliable bricks instead of traditional hard plastic.

This set is perfect for parents or collectors looking for a nostalgic and safe introduction to LEGO for toddlers. The soft bricks are easy for small hands to grip and pose no risk of injury if stepped on, making it an ideal first LEGO set.

Skip this set if you are a seasoned LEGO builder seeking complex models or intricate designs. The limited building options and simple shapes of the soft bricks are not designed for advanced construction techniques or display purposes; consider DUPLO sets for a similar age range but with more traditional LEGO feel.

The Extra Soft Bricks set offers a unique alternative to traditional LEGO or DUPLO sets for very young children. While DUPLO provides larger, more robust versions of standard LEGO bricks, the soft bricks prioritize safety and ease of handling for toddlers. Collectors interested in early LEGO innovations or parents seeking a gentle introduction to building toys might prefer this set over more conventional options. However, DUPLO offers a wider range of building possibilities and themes.
