📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

The Police Pontoon Plane is a charming, classic LEGO City set. Released in 2008, it captures the essence of early LEGO City with its simple yet effective design and focus on playability. The floatplane design is unique within the police subtheme, adding a fun twist to the usual cars and helicopters.

This set is perfect for younger LEGO fans and collectors of vintage City sets. The build is straightforward and engaging, offering a satisfying experience without being overly complex. Its relatively small size makes it easy to display and play with.

Skip this if you're looking for a highly detailed or challenging build. Modern LEGO City sets offer more intricate designs and larger piece counts. Consider sets like the Police Patrol Boat 60277-1 for a more modern water-based police vehicle.

Investment Grade

⏳ Retired

The Police Pontoon Plane (7723-1) presents a moderate investment opportunity. As a retired set from 2008, it benefits from nostalgia and scarcity. The rising price trend indicates increasing demand. However, the set's relatively small size and piece count may limit its long-term appreciation potential. While not a guaranteed home run, it could be a solid addition to a diversified LEGO investment portfolio, especially for those focusing on vintage City themes. Demand for classic LEGO City sets is generally steady, driven by collectors seeking to complete their collections.

📖 About This Set

When there's trouble on the water, the police send their seaplane to save the day. Open the side door and put the police pilot in the cockpit -- now you're ready for adventure. Propellers really spin! Includes pilot minifigure! Plane measures 14" (36cm) long and has a 16" (40cm) wingspan!

⚖ Compare Similar Sets

Compared to modern LEGO City police sets, the Police Pontoon Plane offers a simpler, more classic building experience. Sets like the 60317-1 Police Station offer more advanced building techniques and play features. However, the 7723-1 stands out due to its unique floatplane design, which is less common in the LEGO City police lineup. Collectors might choose this set for its vintage charm and rarity.
