Not enough price history for a trend

Investment Grade

⏳ Retired

The Lighthouse of Darkness, being a retired set from the Hidden Side theme, presents a moderate investment opportunity. The Hidden Side theme had a dedicated following, and this set, with its unique design and play features, is likely to retain its value. Its relatively low piece count compared to other large sets may limit its potential for exponential growth, but the set's unique appeal and the finite number available due to its retirement make it a worthwhile consideration for collectors. However, the Hidden Side theme's mixed popularity compared to evergreen themes like Star Wars or modular buildings introduces some risk. Monitoring the demand and price trends on secondary markets is crucial.

Ghost Train Express

Hidden Side • 698 pcs

The Lighthouse of Darkness stands out within the Hidden Side theme for its imposing structure and unique play features. Compared to other sets in the theme, it offers a more substantial build and a more prominent display piece. While sets like the Ghost Train Express (70424-1) offer different play experiences, the Lighthouse provides a more detailed and visually appealing model. If you're looking for a centerpiece for your Hidden Side collection, this is a strong contender. However, if you prefer more traditional LEGO themes, sets like the Creator Expert modular buildings may be a better fit.

LEGO's official review of the Lighthouse of Darkness praises the transformation feature and clever claw integration. The review also notes nice detailing using stickers to simulate brickwork, but points out the cramped interior of the tower.
