📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

Sonar Security is a charming slice of classic LEGO Space. Released in 1993 as part of the Space Police II line, this set perfectly encapsulates the era's design aesthetic with its bold color scheme, chunky vehicle design, and focus on futuristic law enforcement.

This set is perfect for LEGO Space enthusiasts and vintage collectors. The build is quick and straightforward, making it a fun nostalgia trip and a great addition to any classic Space display. The single Space Police II minifigure is a key element of the theme.

Skip this if you're only interested in complex builds or modern LEGO design. While undeniably charming, Sonar Security is a simple set by today's standards. Consider larger Space Police sets like 6984-1 Galactic Mediator for a more involved experience.

Investment Grade

⏳ Retired

Sonar Security presents a modest investment opportunity, driven by its rarity and nostalgic appeal. As a retired set from a popular sub-theme within LEGO Space, its value has steadily increased over time. The low piece count makes it an accessible entry point for collectors. However, its relatively small size and single minifigure limit its potential for exponential growth. Keeping the set sealed in box will improve value, but expect slow and steady gains rather than a rapid spike.

Compared to modern LEGO sets, Sonar Security is a simple and straightforward build. However, its charm lies in its classic design and nostalgic appeal. While larger Space Police sets offer more complex building experiences and greater display presence, Sonar Security provides an affordable entry point into the theme. Consider 6984-1 Galactic Mediator for a larger, more detailed Space Police flagship.
