📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

Metro PD Station is the ultimate golden-age Classic Town police headquarters. Released in 1996, this sprawling 568-piece complex captures the quintessential charm of 90s LEGO city-building with its iconic blue-and-white color scheme, multiple emergency vehicles, and classic baseplate layout.

This set is perfect for nostalgic collectors and fans of retro LEGO Town. The building experience takes you back to a simpler era of brick-by-brick construction, featuring a jail cell with a breakout function, a multi-story command center, and an impressive lineup of eight minifigures to populate the scene.

Skip this if you are looking for modern building techniques or seamless modern city integration. The build relies heavily on traditional wall elements and older plate configurations, and with current aftermarket prices hovering around $840, it is strictly an investment piece for dedicated vintage enthusiasts.

Metro PD Station commands a remarkable presence in the vintage secondary market, currently fetching around $840 compared to its modest 1996 MSRP of $66. As the crown jewel of the mid-90s Town police subtheme, it carries immense nostalgic value for collectors who grew up with the golden era of LEGO City. Its high piece-to-minifigure ratio, complete vehicle fleet, and iconic status ensure steady long-term appreciation. While the steep entry price means immediate gains are unlikely for casual buyers, complete and boxed copies will always find a hungry audience among retro town collectors. The risk lies primarily in condition sensitivity—finding crisp boxes and pristine printed elements becomes harder by the year, making high-grade copies exceptionally resilient investments.
