Photo Safari is a delightfully charming introduction to the animal kingdom for the youngest LEGO fans. Released back in 2012 within the DUPLO Town theme, this set stands out for its impressive menagerie of chunky, friendly-faced wild animals that capture a toddler's imagination instantly.

This set is perfect for toddlers, preschoolers, and parents looking for engaging, hands-on educational play. With 67 oversized pieces designed specifically for small hands, building the safari camp and creating roaring wildlife adventures offers hours of developmental fun.

Skip this if you are looking for complex system LEGO builds or modern minidoll-scale sets. Because it's a retired DUPLO product, older kids will outgrow it quickly, and collectors should be aware that secondary market prices reflect its vintage status.

⏳ Retired

As a retired 2012 DUPLO set featuring a massive collection of exclusive and semi-rare animals, Photo Safari holds a unique place in the secondary market. While DUPLO sets rarely command the same speculative hype as Star Wars or Modular Buildings, animal-heavy sets from this era consistently retain strong nostalgic and educational value among parents. The current price of around $143, well above its original $59.99 MSRP, shows steady appreciation driven by the sheer desirability of the animal figures. Investing in DUPLO is always a niche strategy, but sets featuring safari themes and unique creatures tend to outperform standard vehicle or house packs. The risk lies in condition sensitivity, as vintage DUPLO often shows wear from heavy toddler play. However, complete sets with all figures intact remain surprisingly resilient and attractive to collectors of vintage junior themes.
