📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

Road Plates is a revolutionary modular system that completely transformed LEGO City layouts. Replacing the traditional thin vacuum-formed baseplates, this 112-piece set introduced a customizable, brick-built approach to building urban streets with integrated crosswalks, traffic lights, and street lamps.

This set is perfect for City builders looking to connect their modular buildings and custom creations. The quick construction time and modular design make it an essential utility kit for expanding layouts, allowing builders of all ages to easily redesign their road networks.

Skip this if you prefer the classic 32x32 stud-printed baseplates or want a standalone display model. Without existing City buildings or vehicle sets to pair it with, these plates offer limited play value on their own, and you might prefer buying a standard vehicle set instead.

⏳ Current release

As a utility set, LEGO Road Plates (60304) serves as the foundational architecture for modern LEGO City layouts. While individual parts-packs rarely see astronomical price spikes, they tend to enjoy steady, long-term demand from custom builders (MOCers) who need multiple copies to construct expansive cities. Since this set has retired, the secondary market value is expected to rise gradually as new collectors enter the hobby and seek out these specific modular road connections. However, the investment upside is capped by the fact that LEGO continues to produce similar road plate elements in current City sets. The primary value lies in the bulk quantity of dark bluish gray road plates and the printed crosswalk tiles. It is a safe, slow-burning investment rather than a rapid doubler.
