📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

The Blue Easter Egg is a charming piece of LEGO seasonal history. Released in 2004 as a niche seasonal exclusive, this 178-piece build uses a clever stepped brick-and-plate technique to create a smooth, curved egg sculpture with a vibrant blue, yellow, and dark purple pattern.

This set is perfect for vintage seasonal collectors and fans of retro promotional items. The build is quick, approachable, and results in a delightful springtime desktop display piece that doubles as a nostalgic conversation starter.

Skip this if you are seeking a complex building challenge or modern building techniques. With secondary market prices heavily inflated by rarity rather than piece count, casual builders would be much better served by modern seasonal releases like the LEGO Spring Animal Playground.

As an obscure 2004 promotional/seasonal set, Easter Egg [Blue] (4212852-1) has achieved significant aftermarket appreciation primarily due to extreme scarcity rather than mass-market demand. With sealed copies fetching well over $100, it represents a specialized niche in vintage seasonal memorabilia. However, liquidity is relatively low compared to mainstream licensed themes like Star Wars or Icons. The parts selection consists largely of standard elements in high quantities (such as Blue 2x2 corner bricks and plates), meaning the value is almost entirely concentrated in the sealed packaging and set completeness. Investors should view this as a stable boutique collectible rather than a high-growth asset.

Compared to modern seasonal promotional sets like the 40371 Customisable Easter Egg or 40527 Easter Chicks, this 2004 model relies on pure geometric layering rather than curved slopes or specialized character molds. While modern sets offer superior price-to-piece ratios and interactive detailing, 4212852-1 stands out for its nostalgic charm, classic color blocking, and historical novelty.
