📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

The Nether Duel is a surprisingly dense blast from LEGO Minecraft's past. Packing a custom-feeling environment and two distinct characters into just 37 pieces, this blister-pack polybag delivers a fun slice of the fiery dimension.

This set is perfect for Minecraft completists and budget-conscious fans. The build takes all of five minutes, but the inclusion of Steve and a Wither Skeleton makes it an awesome little desktop display or cheap army-builder.

Skip this if you are hunting for complex building techniques or large-scale displays. At well under 50 pieces, this is strictly a novelty impulse buy rather than a substantial building experience.

⏳ Retired

As a retired 2021 Minecraft polybag, The Nether Duel occupies a unique niche in the secondary market. With an original MSRP of just $4.99 and a current upward price trend pushing past $12, it has already demonstrated steady secondary market appreciation driven purely by the inclusion of a Wither Skeleton and Steve in a very cheap package. Polybags are notoriously prone to crushed packaging, meaning sealed specimens in pristine condition hold a notable premium for inbox collectors. However, potential investors must weigh the risks inherent to small promotional sets. Because the piece count is low (37 parts) and the build itself is simplistic, long-term value is almost entirely propped up by minifigure exclusivity and theme popularity. If LEGO decides to re-release these specific characters in cheaper or more accessible mainstream sets, the aftermarket velocity of 30331 could cool off quickly. It remains a low-risk, low-cost speculative item, but rapid gains are unlikely to repeat exponentially from current price levels.

⚖ Compare Similar Sets

Compared to standard retail LEGO Minecraft boxes, polybags like The Nether Duel offer an exceptionally low barrier to entry for acquiring specific mobs. While bigger sets provide sprawling environments and redstone gimmicks, 30331 punches above its weight class by squeezing two characters into a sub-$5 original price point, making it a better value for pure character collection than many mid-range sets.

Wither Skeleton, Square Skull, Bent Arms
