(V2) 6x6 oilfield/gin pole truck
The second version of the 6x6 oilfield/gin pole truck has been rebuilt from the ground up by u/sidewinder9315. This impressive MOC (My Own Creation) is designed for high-torque applications, mirroring the demands faced by real-world bed trucks. The creator aimed for accuracy while incorporating their unique design flair.
This truck boasts several impressive features, including a true live axle 6-link suspension for maximum off-road efficiency. It is powered by two PF L motors geared 63:1 for the drive and one PF M motor for steering. The model also includes dual bed winches powered by two PF M motors, an engageable transfer case for 6wd/4wd, and a transmission-driven PTO module. Other features include a Hi/Lo rangebox, a folding gin pole, and a storage box for gin pole components. The front and rear axles have been rebuilt with a four-shock setup on the front axle and a new telescopic shaft between the rear axles. The model also has a tilting front moose bumper, an opening hood, and a working fake engine with moving pistons.
All functions are motorized except for the PTO switch and other manual functions. Metal universal joints are used in select drivetrain sections. Cosmetic details include a tapered hood, fender-mounted mirrors, a realistic bullbar, and lights. The truck weighs 20 pounds, measures 3.3 feet in length and 11 ¼ inches in height. It delivers approximately 6 lb ft of torque (8.16 Nm) at the wheels, running on a six AA battery box.
