trouble with recent Buwizz motor update and green gecko motors?

Hi. We have a couple Buwizz we use for Lego Combat Robotics. After the recent update to the Buwizz (a few weeks ago), some of our green gecko motors "blew up" according to my kid during testing pre-competition. Previous to this update there was no issue with the setup. A real bummer. Anyone else run into issues like this after recent update? FYI, we use Buwizz with a mix of buwizz motors (those are also starting to falter) as well as lego and green gecko. I'm trying to understand the limits...
