Set 42179 - Earth & Sun - attaching issue

On Step 204, I have been trying for ages to attach the gearing section for the earth to the main arm. I have got the axles connected but I can't seem to get the pieces lined up so that the pegs will go through. Has anyone had this problem and if so, how did you resolve it?
