Lego 42156 PEUGEOT 9X8 - Engine bay cover/lid question

So, me and my 6 year old just spent the last three days building this beautiful Peugeot 9X8 hypercar and it was an extremely rewarding experience. It's the first 18+ kit my son pretty much built most of, so I'm massively happy about that as well, but anyway. While the car is great, I don't know if I missed instructions somewhere or if it's just supposed to be like that, but the large engine bay lid/cover sort of just sits on the chassis without any mounts or connections.
