Just Got Scammed

A LEGO enthusiast shared a cautionary tale of being scammed while purchasing a LEGO Technic set on eBay. The user, new to the LEGO hobby, fell victim to a fraudulent listing and wants to warn others to be careful when shopping online.

The user, a 56-year-old LEGO fan, is building a collection of 1:8 scale supercars, including the McLaren and the Ferrari SP3. They recently purchased the Lamborghini and are expecting the Bugatti to arrive soon. The user was particularly interested in the LEGO Technic Porsche 911 GT3 RS (2,704 Pieces) but had been hesitant due to its high price. When they found a listing on eBay for $300, they made a purchase without thoroughly checking the seller's history.

Unfortunately, the listing was a scam. The user discovered the seller had no prior sales history, and, worse, there were three identical listings, all likely fraudulent. This experience highlights the importance of caution when buying LEGO sets, especially those that are expensive or rare, from online marketplaces.
