Help needed for Control+ motor

I'm working on building my 42146 again with a bit longer boom this time. After threading the hook wire the calibration went fine, the motor was running well and smoothly. When playing with it for the first time I wanted to lower the hook but the wire got caught somewhere so the wire 'loosened' around the spool and the motor stopped. Since then the motor only wants to turn in one direction. Even when I take out the axle to there's nothing attached to the motor anymore it only wants to 'lower'...
