The Basic Set 9255-1, while not a licensed set, benefits from nostalgia and its status as a classic LEGO set. Its value lies in its completeness and the condition of the bricks. Due to the nature of basic sets, many were heavily played with, making well-preserved sets more desirable for collectors. While appreciation may not be as high as limited edition or licensed sets, the steady demand for vintage LEGO and its educational value contribute to its potential as a long-term investment. Risks include brick discoloration and wear from play.
