📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

Fighter Plane Chase (77012) is a fantastic, high-speed slice of cinematic nostalgia. Capturing the iconic dogfight scene from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, this set delivers a surprisingly hefty amount of play value and design charm in a compact 387-piece package.

This set is perfect for Indiana Jones fans, younger builders stepping up their skills, and nostalgic adult collectors. The inclusion of the vintage convertible alongside the sleek fighter plane creates an instant display vignette that is just begging to be played with or put on a desk.

Skip this if you are looking for a complex, multi-hour building challenge. At just under 400 pieces, the build goes by quite quickly, making it more of a delightful afternoon snack than a substantial display centerpiece.

⏳ Retired

As part of the short-lived 2023 Indiana Jones revival, this set carries significant secondary market potential. Licensed adventure themes often enjoy a passionate collector base long after retirement, and with LEGO's current rocky relationship with the Indiana Jones license, sets from this wave are already becoming sought-after pieces. With a modest original MSRP of $34.99 and a solid 387-piece count, the barrier to entry for investors is quite low.

Compared to larger sets in the 2023 Indiana Jones wave like the Temple of the Golden Idol (77015), Fighter Plane Chase is much more budget-friendly and playset-oriented. It serves as an accessible entry point similar to the Escape from the Lost Tomb (77013), though focused more on vehicle action than temple traps.
