📝 Our Take

Drone Search for Mythical Mew is an exciting entry into the LEGO Pokémon lineup, bringing iconic creature discovery to brick form. With 429 pieces packed with fun play features like the falling ruins wall and berry-dropping drone mechanics, this set hits all the right nostalgic notes for fans of the franchise.

This set is perfect for younger builders, Pokémon trainers, and fans of interactive LEGO playsets. The 4.5-hour building experience is engaging without being overly complex, and the finished model offers plenty of dynamic display and play potential for kids and collectors alike.

Skip this if you are an adult collector solely looking for high-end display pieces or complex MOC parts packs. At this scale and price point, it leans heavily into play features rather than intricate architectural detail.

Compared to smaller blind-bag or starter Pokémon sets, 72161 offers a much more substantial builds-and-playset experience with interactive features. While it sits at a slightly higher price point than basic impulse buys, the inclusion of both a vehicle and an environment makes it a more complete playset than similarly priced character packs.
