📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

City Advent Calendar 2024 is the ultimate festive countdown for younger builders. With 24 daily builds, holiday-themed minifigures, and an integrated playmat, this seasonal release captures the joyful spirit of the holidays perfectly.

This set is perfect for kids and families looking to add some daily magic to December. The bite-sized daily builds offer a quick, satisfying puzzle each morning that culminates in a complete winter village scene.

Skip this if you are looking for complex architectural builds or long-term display value. Since it is seasonal and primarily built for play during December, adult collectors might find the small mini-builds lacking in substance outside of the holidays.

⏳ Retired

Holiday advent calendars occupy a unique space in the LEGO secondary market. Because they are strictly tied to a specific holiday season, they often experience a surge in demand right around November and December, especially after they officially retire. The 2024 City calendar features a strong lineup of seasonal minifigures like Mrs. Claus and the holiday baby, which always helps maintain secondary market interest among collectors who missed out during the initial release window. However, potential investors should keep in mind that advent calendars typically have a low price-per-piece ratio and a high box volume relative to the actual plastic content, making storage space a major factor. While they rarely appreciate exponentially like iconic Star Wars or Modular buildings, complete and sealed copies of retired holiday calendars reliably fetch modest gains once the stock dries up on retail shelves.

Compared to the Star Wars or Harry Potter advent calendars, the City version leans much more heavily into everyday seasonal activities like ice skating and building snowmen rather than licensed character collecting. It serves as an incredible value-add for expanding a standard LEGO City layout with winter elements.
