Builders love the chunky, robust design and the excellent price-to-piece ratio, though some note the lack of functional suspension is a missed play feature.

📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

The Blue Monster Truck is a masterclass in pocket-sized LEGO City design. Despite its modest 148-piece count, this rugged off-roader packs a massive visual punch with its beefy tractor tires, vibrant dark azure accents, and surprisingly sturdy construction that can handle any living room stunt jump.

This set is perfect for young builders and casual collectors looking for a fun, quick, and highly playable build. At just $15.99, it offers incredible value, a satisfyingly chunky aesthetic, and a neat introduction to basic Technic-based chassis construction.

Skip this if you are seeking a highly complex build or a display-focused vehicle with working steering and suspension. While it looks fantastic on a shelf, its simple axle setup is designed primarily for rugged play rather than realistic mechanical functions; advanced builders might prefer larger Technic off-roaders instead.

⏳ Retiring soon

The Blue Monster Truck (60402) is a standard entry-level LEGO City vehicle, which historically limits its long-term investment potential. Because these pocket-money sets are mass-produced and widely available, they rarely see explosive post-retirement price spikes. However, its high playability, attractive color scheme, and inclusion of great parts like the massive tractor tires and dark azure elements give it decent baseline appeal. It's a low-risk, low-reward play; it will likely hold its MSRP after retirement, but don't expect it to fund your next big modular building purchase.
