📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

Air Race brings high-flying stunt action straight to the LEGO City living room floor. Featuring a brilliant propeller stunt plane alongside two ripcord-launched helicopters, this set delivers classic, kinetic play that captures the thrill of an air show.

This set is perfect for younger builders and fans of action-heavy LEGO City themes. With 140 pieces and an approachable build time, it's designed for immediate play value rather than complex, lengthy display construction.

Skip this if you are looking for advanced display pieces or a high piece-to-price ratio. Adult collectors and seasoned MOC builders might find the selection a bit too junior-focused compared to larger structural sets.

How do the ripcord helicopters launch and hold up during play? Are the minifigures in this set exclusive to the 2020 Airport sub-theme? How does Air Race compare to other LEGO City aviation sets from the same year? Is this set a good parts pack for custom airplane builds?

Not enough price history for a trend

C+

Investment Grade

⏳ Retired

As a retired LEGO City set with a modest 140 pieces, Air Race occupies a niche space in the secondary market. While standard City sets rarely skyrocket in value, the inclusion of ripcord helicopter mechanics and named characters like Rivera provides slight nostalgic and play appeal for kids who missed out on the initial 2020 run. However, investors should temper expectations. The low piece count and primarily junior-focused build mean it appeals more to parents looking for specific play elements than serious sealed-box collectors. Steady, modest growth is likely, but it won't rival high-end Technic or modular investments.

⚖ Compare Similar Sets

Compared to larger airport terminal sets, Air Race focuses entirely on the aerial show aspect rather than ground infrastructure. It serves as a great budget-friendly companion to sets like the Passenger Aeroplane (60262), offering dynamic motion features that static planes lack.
