The Super Basic Set, released in 1982, holds significant value as a vintage LEGO set. Its age, coupled with the relatively high piece count for a basic set of that era, contributes to its desirability among collectors. The rising price trend indicates increasing demand, particularly from those seeking a piece of LEGO history. However, condition is key; a set in pristine, unopened condition will command a much higher premium. While the $1000 price tag is considerable, the set's historical significance and potential for further appreciation make it an intriguing investment for serious LEGO collectors. Potential downsides include the risk of damage due to age and the challenge of verifying authenticity.
