📝 Our Take

AI-assisted editorial summary, grounded in our LEGO database and public community discussions. How we use AI

Mermaid Roller Coaster Ride is a vibrant and imaginative splash of color for the LEGO Friends theme. Combining a fully functioning amusement park ride with whimsical aquatic themes, this 874-piece set brings incredible movement and storytelling potential directly to the playroom.

This set is perfect for younger builders and fans of amusement park builds who want both display flair and active play features. With 5 minidolls—including Autumn with swap-out facial expressions—and a clever rotating pool mechanism, the building experience is engaging from start to finish.

Skip this if you prefer static display models or realistic creator-style roller coasters. If you're looking for massive, high-tech amusement park hardware, you might want to look toward larger Fairground Collection sets instead.

⏳ Current release

As part of the popular LEGO Friends theme, the Mermaid Roller Coaster Ride (42703) sits in a sweet spot for targeted demographic demand. Amusement park sets historically hold their value well on the secondary market due to their high playability and colorful shelf appeal. With 874 pieces and 5 minidolls at a $109.99 MSRP, the price-per-piece ratio is slightly high, which is typical for licensed-feel subthemes, but the unique mechanical functions and vibrant color palette—featuring extensive Medium Lavender and Pearl Gold—will attract niche collectors once it retires.

Compared to standard LEGO City roller coasters, the Friends Mermaid Roller Coaster Ride leans heavily into whimsical aesthetics, vibrant pastel coloring, and interactive water-feature play. While it lacks the sheer scale and motorized lift hills of larger Creator Expert fairground rides, it offers an approachable price point and unique thematic charm that stands out on any shelf.
