The Nutcracker set (40640-1) presents a moderate investment opportunity. Its appeal as a Christmas-themed item provides seasonal demand, and its relatively low piece count keeps it accessible for a wide range of buyers. However, its availability and lack of exclusive elements may limit significant price appreciation. As a smaller, readily available set, potential investors should temper expectations. Price appreciation will likely be gradual, driven by holiday demand and eventual retirement.

The Nutcracker offers a smaller, more affordable option compared to larger LEGO Christmas sets like the Winter Village series. While lacking the complexity and scale of those sets, its affordability and festive design make it a great impulse buy or gift. Consider it as a smaller-scale alternative to sets like 40573-1 Christmas Tree or 40499-1 Santa's Sleigh if you're looking for something quick and easy to build and display.
