Compared to modern LEGO Classic sets, the Basic Building Set + Storage Case offers a more limited selection of bricks and lacks building instructions. However, its vintage charm and the inclusion of the original storage case set it apart. While newer sets like 11017-1 (Creative Suitcase) offer more pieces and building ideas, this set appeals to collectors seeking a piece of LEGO history.
