The Garage with Automatic Door (236-1) presents a unique investment opportunity due to its age, rarity, and historical significance. As a set from 1956, it predates the modern LEGO brick system, making it highly sought after by serious collectors. The set's condition and completeness significantly impact its value, with original boxes and instructions adding a premium. While the piece count is low, the set's historical importance and limited availability drive its value, making it a potentially lucrative investment for those willing to preserve it carefully. However, its fragility and the difficulty in finding complete sets should be considered risks.

Compared to modern LEGO garages, this set is incredibly simple, reflecting the design constraints of its time. Modern sets like the City Garage (60248-1) offer more detailed builds and play features but lack the historical charm and investment potential of the vintage set. Collectors interested in the history of LEGO may prefer this set, while those seeking playability and modern design might opt for newer alternatives.
