Matau, being a 2001 Bionicle set, carries a degree of collector's value due to its age and the enduring popularity of the Bionicle theme. While its low piece count might limit significant appreciation, its status as a complete set in good condition could make it a worthwhile addition to a Bionicle collection. The stable price trend suggests consistent demand among collectors, but potential investors should be aware that the market for older Bionicle sets can be niche and fluctuate based on overall Bionicle resurgence or specific character popularity. Complete sets with original packaging and instructions will command the highest premiums.

⚖ Compare Similar Sets

Matau is a smaller, simpler set compared to the Toa Mata sets from the same year, which offer more complex builds and larger figures. While the Toa sets are generally more sought after, the Turaga sets like Matau offer a more affordable entry point into the Bionicle theme and provide a glimpse into the world's lore. Collectors might choose Matau for its completeness in representing the Turaga characters and its ease of display.
