The 1:87 Esso Bedford Trailer presents a unique investment opportunity due to its age and rarity. As a vintage set from 1955, it appeals to serious LEGO collectors who specialize in historical pieces. The low piece count and simple design mean that the value is driven almost entirely by its age and condition. Price trends show a significant upward trajectory, indicating strong demand. However, the high current price also means that potential investors should exercise caution, carefully assessing the set's condition and completeness before making a purchase. While the set's rarity and historical significance suggest continued appreciation, the market for very old LEGO sets can be volatile.

Compared to modern LEGO vehicles, the 1:87 Esso Bedford Trailer offers a stark contrast in complexity and design. While newer sets boast intricate details and hundreds of pieces, this vintage set's simplicity highlights the evolution of LEGO design. Collectors interested in vintage sets might also consider other early LEGO vehicles or town sets. However, the Esso Bedford Trailer's unique branding and historical context set it apart, making it a desirable addition for serious collectors.
