Writers have confirmed in the past that Ninjago was named by combining "Ninjago" and "Lego". Not named because Ninjago is a reference to how Ninjas go.

I've always thought that Ninjago was named Ninjago because Ninjas Go and stuff. But a while ago, I saw an old post from Tommy Andreasen that said how they named the show by combining LEGO and Ninja.
