Will Riyu grow up mid-season?

I recently noticed that Riyu appears in both his old and new forms in the latest DRS4 trailer. I honestly thought such a significant growth would occur between seasons, but apparently that won't be the case. What do you think? Is it an animation error? Will he grow randomly mid season?
