Why were the Hands of Time so forgotten in the show’s canon?

I imagine they were a pretty respected duo of Elemental Masters when they fought alongside the good guys; so they must’ve been pretty famous across Ninjago and the other parts. And even when they turned their backs on the alliance (or Chen and Clouse turned them evil with their spells or whatever, I don’t think I ever got that 100% right), they were still pretty known and that whole battle incident must’ve spread like wildfire in Ninjago as news.
