Which set should I choose for my graduation gift?

So I am thinking about getting death star or minas tirith. I actually liked death star since it came out, its not the greatest set but I would really really like it in my collection. On the other hand lately ive been collecting some larger lotr sets, currently I have baradur and rivendell + now im saving for the shire. Normally I would pick minas tirith cause its better set but I can get it for christmass cause its not that much expensive. But if I would get it now I can get some other 500$+...
