Taipei Skylines MOC (Architecture Style)
The LEGO fan /u/GreatPowered has created a custom LEGO model (MOC) of the Taipei skyline, inspired by a trip to Taiwan and Alex Honnold's climb of Taipei 101. The creator focused on six key buildings to represent the city's architecture.
The MOC includes the Presidential Office Building, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, The Grand Hotel Taipei, Taipei 101, Taipei Nan Shan Plaza, and Tao Zhu Yin Yuan. The creator's favorite parts of the build are the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and the base and podium of Taipei 101. The Memorial Hall's roof and base were challenging to recreate due to scale limitations, but the creator found a solution using black bricks to simulate the central gate. The base of Taipei 101 was formed into a truncated pyramid shape using wedge plates, and the "ruyi" symbol on the podium was achieved by rotating it at 45 degrees.
Due to the focus on Taipei 101, the other buildings are more abstract representations. The creator's work demonstrates a passion for architecture and a creative approach to LEGO building.
If you are inspired to build your own MOCs, you might want to get some LEGO bricks to get started.
I just returned from a trip to Taiwan. Alex Honnold's climb of Taipei 101 sparked my interest in creating a Taipei skyline MOC. While I noticed many other creators had already made Taipei skylines, I still wanted to redesign my own one. I chose 6 main bulidings in Taipei: Presidential Office Building, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, The Grand Hotel Taipei, Taipei 101, Taipei Nan Shan Plaza, Tao Zhu Yin Yuan. Any resemblance to other creators' works is purely coincidental. My favorite designs...
